If you’re looking for the perfect cocktail inspired by Jennie’s debut solo album Ruby, this Jennie Ruby martini recipe is for you!
Ever since Ruby first came out, I’ve been playing it on repeat. I’m blown away by how sonically diverse and strong this album is. I didn’t realize how well-rounded of an artist Jennie was, and her musical taste is honestly chef’s kiss.
I was not a fan of Blackpink OR Jennie before this. K-pop always came off as a bit too…manufactured for my very Americanized music tastes. But then I listened to Rosé’s solo album and was shocked by how much I loved it. I didn’t think any other Blackpink solo album could top it – until RUBY. Just WOW.
From the vibey, RNB track Damn Right, to the catchy, high energy rap blowing up on Tiktok Like Jennie, to the ethereal late night drive anthem Seoul City, this album truly has something for everyone. The cohesive thread through the album is Jennie’s confidence, charisma and taste. She really embodies a woman in her prime, fully aware of her own power. Just check out the interview clip below where she definitively states: “I don’t have self doubt”.

In honor of this masterpiece of a debut album, I created a cocktail that is bold and strong, with distinctly Asian elements as a nod to Jennie’s Korean roots. I honestly didn’t know how this would turn out since I was experimenting with new flavors and techniques. But gosh, it surprised me in the BEST way!

The Jennie Ruby martini is a cherry lychee jasmine-tea infused martini. It’s sweet and yummy like a classic lychee martini, but the earthy jasmine tea infusion adds a layer of complexity. The flavors blend surprisingly well. If you’ve ever had a flavored fruit tea, this kind of tastes like that – except spiked with alcohol!
This would be perfect for a Ruby themed listening party, or just to enjoy on your own or with friends on any random weekend! Also, you can make the tea infused vodka ahead of time and store it for future use (vodka doesn’t really go bad). With the vodka ready made, the drink itself takes less than 10 minutes to whip up!
And one last thing before we get into the recipe – what are your top 3 favorite songs from Ruby? Let me know in the comments!
Mine honestly change depending on the day, but right now it’s: Damn Right, Handlebars, and Seoul City.
Ingredients:

- Jasmine or Green Tea
- Vodka
- Maraschino Cherries
- Canned Lychee
- Grenadine
- Lime or Lemon
- Ice
Supplies:
- Martini Glass (leave it in the freezer for 30 min to get a nice, cold frosted glass!)
- Jar with lid that fits around 3/4 of a cup of liquid (I used an empty Trader Joe’s 6.9 oz harissa jar)
- Cocktail Shaker
- Cocktail Jigger
- Knife
- Toothpick, BBQ stick, or re-usable cocktail garnish stick
- Cutting Board
Jennie Ruby Martini Recipe:
1. Make the tea infused vodka ahead of time.

Put 1 heaping tablespoon of green tea or jasmine tea into a jar, and add 3/4 cups of vodka. Cover the jar with a lid, and let sit for at least 2 hours. The vodka should go from clear to a slight yellow greenish tint (it won’t have as dark of a color as regular brewed tea though).
Also, pop your martini glass in the freezer while your at it! This will give you a nice frosted glass when it comes time to make your cocktail.

2. Combine ingredients in a cocktail shaker half filled with ice.
Pour in 2.25 ounces of lychee juice (juice from the canned lychees), 2.25 ounces of tea-infused vodka, 1 tablespoon of grenadine, and the freshly squeezed juice of half a lime.
Note, I am using a cocktail jigger where the larger side is 1.5 ounces and the smaller side is 0.75 ounces, so combined they make 2.25 ounces.

3. Cover the cocktail shaker and shake HARD (for about 3 min) until the shaker is frosted with condensation.

4. Pour and garnish!
Remove the cap of your cocktail shaker and pour out the cocktail liquid into your frosted martini glass.
You can garnish however you’d like. I dropped 1 stem-less maraschino cherry into the bottom of the martini glass to get that red color gradient effect, and added a skewer of 2 lychees and 2 maraschino cherries, alternating.

5. Make another one because the first one was too good!
Just kidding. But you might actually end up doing this. I sure did 🙃
