This post shows you how to replicate Soho House’s chic bedroom interior design aesthetic in 12 easy steps.
Whether you’ve already stayed in Soho House rooms all across the globe, or simply admire their interior design through a screen, you’re not alone if you’ve wondered: “How can I recreate this style in my own home?”.
This buzzy chain of members clubs is not just known for their exclusive events and fancy drinks. They are also world renowned for their distinctly luxurious yet cozy interior design aesthetic. Their rooms always somehow look classically stylish, brimming with historic charm, yet comfortable and modern at the same time.
Although their rooms reflect the uniqueness of each destination, they all share the unmistakeable signature Soho House style. One part classical old-world elegance, one part eclectic maximalism, and one part contemporary sophistication, the Soho House style is as multifaceted as it is coveted.
However, all Soho House rooms follow a 12-step formula you can replicate in your own home. This formula allows room for experimentation and creativity, while keeping you on track to achieve the chic Soho House style.
12 steps to achieve the Soho House bedroom style:
- Choose a bold color scheme.
- Choose a bed with a plush headboard.
- Use white bedding as a base, and add colorful throw pillows and blankets.
- Add seating at the end of the bed.
- Add art work by local artists to your room.
- Add a bar tray.
- Add sconces to the sides of your bed.
- Ensure that there’s a reading nook.
- Add a striking chandelier.
- Add a luxe area rug that fills the room.
- Drape thick curtains from ceiling to floor.
- Add vintage touches.
1. Choose a bold but cohesive color scheme.
Probably the most noticeable aspect of Soho House style is the use of bold colors across every surface of interiors. From walls and ceilings, to furniture and decor, you rarely see a part of the room that is totally neutral colored.
However, don’t just choose any random mix of loud colors and call it a day. Soho House rooms always feature complementary colors that look harmonious together.
To replicate this look, choose 2 main bold colors to feature recurrently throughout your room. Everything else should be neutral or slightly milder shades of your two main colors to complement them.
To really amp up the luxe factor a la Soho House, choose the jewel toned version of each color. For example, emerald for greens, sapphire for blues, ruby for reds and amber and gold for yellows.
Here is a list of colors that pair well together as a starting point:
- Mustard Yellow and Sapphire blue
- Maroon Red and Sapphire Blue
- Emerald Green and Neutral Golds
- Tangerine Orange and Olive Green
2. Choose a bed with a plush headboard.
The bed is the visual focal point of any bedroom. Thus, choosing a plush, colorful headboard can be an easy way to instantly make your bedroom look more stylish.
Most Soho House bedrooms feature colorful, padded headboards in a funky, curved shape. The plush softness of the headboard and absence of any hard edges enhances the luxurious feel of the room.
You can purchase a distinctly Soho House style headboard from their own line of furniture called Soho Home. For more affordable options, Amazon also has a great selection of cute, velvet upholstered headboards (check out this pink one and this emerald green one!).
3. Use white bedding as a base, and add colorful throw pillows and blankets.
White bedding is a cornerstone of every luxury hotel room. The reasoning for this is more practical than stylistic: it is easiest to wash white bedding with bleach to maintain a pristine clean look.
However, white bedding is great for design reasons too. You can switch up the accessories on the bed, such as the throw pillows and blankets, without needing to change the base.
You can instantly take a bedroom from dark and moody to bright and cheery by changing the colors of the bedding accents. Experiment with different patterns and fabric textures too to create additional visual interest.
4. Add seating at the end of the bed.
You may have noticed already that almost every Soho House room features seating at the end of the bed. They can come in a variety of forms, ranging from benches, to small couches and loveseats, to armchairs or stools.
Seating at the end of the bed instantly makes a bedroom feel more luxurious. It is also practical: you can lay your clothes out for the next day or host guests without having them sit on your bed. This layout can also be perfect for small studio apartments where living and sleeping spaces need to be combined.
Choose seating that fits the color scheme of your room, as per step number 1. You can either go with something that matches the 2 main bold colors you’ve chosen, or opt for a more neutral color and accessorize with colorful accent pillows. Opt for luxurious, textured fabrics like velvet or boucle to create even more visual interest.
5. Add art work by local artists to your room.
Soho House was originally founded to be a cultural hub for creatives and artists, so it shouldn’t be surprising that art is a cornerstone of their signature interior design style.
You can emulate this style by curating your own collection of artworks to display at home. Go to local art fairs and galleries to discover your own favorite artists, and develop your personal taste. You can also browse online art marketplaces like Saatchi Art, Etsy, Society6 and Tappan Collective, just to name a few.

6. Add a bar tray.
No Soho House room is complete without a well appointed mini bar. Not only are they practical for those who like to make a drink or two in the privacy of their own room, they can also be a great way to express your personality and style.
You can mix and match bar accoutrements like glassware, various drink mixers and bitters, and accessories like flowers or candles. Add a small painting or framed photograph to further enhance the aesthetic appeal and ambience of your mini bar area.
However, the most crucial ingredient for a stylish ensuite mini bar however is definitely the bar tray you choose. The design of your bar tray can either enhance the vibe of your room, or clash with it completely.

7. Add sconces to the sides of your bed.
Add an elegant and practical touch to your room by placing sconces at the sides of your bed. Sconces provide focused lighting that’s perfect for reading, without taking up much space on your nightstands.
Sconces can also make your space look more sophisticated, through the symmetry they provide in framing your bed. Choose a design that complements the look you’re going for, such as industrial, exposed bulb sconces for a modern look or vintage sconces for a more traditional vibe.
8. Ensure that there’s a reading nook.
Add a reading nook to your room to instantly make your space feel more cozy and inviting. It can be as simple as adding a cute accent chair, and a reading light.
If you want to go all out, you can add a bookshelf, a side table or stool, and accent pillows to make your reading nook even cozier. Add plants or art work to further personalize this nook.
Also, make sure to place your reading nook close to a window to take advantage of natural light. It will be a great place to relax and unwind in your space.
9. Add a striking chandelier.
Luxury is often achieved through the little details in a space, such as great lighting. Most Soho House rooms feature abundant overhead lighting, in the form of a gorgeous, unique chandelier.
Choose a chandelier with a striking design to create another visual focal point in your space. Make sure to install warm toned light bulbs to further enhance the cozy, soothing ambience of your space.
You can experiment with different designs, from modern blown glass fixtures, to traditional hanging crystal chandeliers, to zen paper lanterns. Find one that matches the interior design style you’re going for to tie the room together.
10. Add a luxe area rug that fills the room.
Aesthetics aside, Soho House rooms always feel exceptionally inviting and cozy. Adding a large area rug is one of the best ways to amp up the coziness of your room.
Depending on the interior design style you’re going for, you can opt for a geometric art deco style print, or choose a traditional antique rug. Regardless of rug design, be sure to choose something that matches the color scheme of your room.
Don’t be afraid to pick something colorful either! Rugs can be a great way to add a vibrant splash of color to your space. Just take a look at how this beautiful blue rug accentuates the other blue accents in this London Soho House room below.
11. Drape thick curtains from ceiling to floor.
Curtains are a crucial and highly impactful area of interior design that is often overlooked. The way you hang your curtains can truly make or break your space.
Make sure you hang your curtains from a rod that is close to the ceiling of your room, and ensure that they are long enough to reach the floor. This dramatic window treatment instantly elevates your space by making it feel larger and more palatial.
You will notice that most Soho House rooms feature curtains with heavy, luxurious fabrics and colorful patterns. Choose something that complements the color scheme of your room, like a cool pattern that combines many different colors from throughout the room, or a solid colored curtain that matches the rest of the space.
12. Add vintage touches.
Soho House rooms always feature unique, vintage accents that add timeless charm to the space. According to Soho House’s own Youtube channel, every Soho House room comes with a vintage Roberts radio set to BBC 3.
You’ll often find various other vintage accents in Soho House rooms like an old dial-up phone, vintage tea sets or barware, or mirrors and other furniture pieces.
You can nab this look in your own home by getting the same Roberts radio. Alternatively, spice it up by treasure hunting for unique decor in your local thrift store or flea market. If you don’t want to search in person, you can also find vintage decor through online marketplaces like Facebook marketplace, Offer Up, or Chairish.
Curate a collection of vintage decor that suits your unique taste to add depth and personality to your space.
I hope you found enough inspiration to replicate the chic Soho House bedroom style in your own home. Whether it’s for yourself or your guests, your stylish bedroom will surely make whoever is lucky enough to stay in it very, very happy.
